Drano Ad Campaign
9/10 times, what is typically the culprit to clogging your drain? HAIR! For this campaign I personified the balls of hair that would be blocking up your drain into these hair monsters. I wanted to appeal to the younger generation, specifically college students in their first-time apartments or young adults. I went towards the humor route alone with a theme of partying but personified it through hair monsters. Hair monsters were hand-crafted by me and photographed by me.
Process
Starting from rough thumbnail sketches, to the final designed “Hair Monsters”, I went through trial and error trying to figure out the best way to bring these creatures to life. After lots of brain storming I found it easiest to cut up old wigs and hot glue the hair to to foam forms and used some wire to add structure in certain areas. Some styling and good lighting later brought me to this finished product of my ad for Drano.
